A virtual traveller needs to stay in time with the route and time zones. A lesson learnt. It is nearly four hours drive from Calais, but the later crossing meant I went through Antwerp as the sun was going down. Antwerp sits on the eastern side of the river Scheldt. Bet you didn’t know that. Here’s a nice picture of the canal near the hotel I ‘booked’ in Amsterdam. I found the hotel on the Expedia app on my iPhone, which is very well designed and easy to use. I downloaded a number of apps that should cover the whole trip, but won’t know for sure until I can’t find something I need.
